Beschreibung

An eine Freundin. – Nach dem nur wenige Tage vorher erfolgten Umzug in ihr neues Haus in Moncourt. – »I am still busy arranging books, lamps, trying to stop up leaks (not serious) as the winter sets in. Also my Siamese kitten Tinker arrived last weekend, with my French acquaintances Gérard Bédé (aged 22) and his aunt Jacqueline Bogarde (aged 49) who is not his aunt, but he is a mysterious orphan. […] I did see that Lesbian (or should I capitalize it?) article in the Times, par hasard, as it – – rather I was in Zurich. […] Deary as it is, I do think such subjects ought to be ›discussed‹ because it slowly decreases public prejudice. Maybe England doesn’t suffer so much from that. Granted in USA all the gay people keep it as much as possible under their hats. (Fine place for it!) But there is still social pressure which leads to more neurotic benaviour, etc.«. – Am Ende eine recht nüchterne Nachricht, dass ihr Stiefvater gestorben sei. Sie erwähnt die Geschwister ihrer Mutter und resümiert: »I think she will not collapse.« – Auf Briefpapier des Hotel Urban, Zürich.

War gefaltet.
