The rare original edition. – Title page with a handwritten dedication by the editor Gerard Malanga: »This copy is for ralf-rainer rygulla || the arbiter of taste || & poet who behaves as a poet should || with deep gratitude & respect […] gerard«, dedicated and dated during a visit to the Frankfurt Book Fair in 1970. – Each spread features two to three stills from Warhol’s famous »Screen Tests«, which were primarily shot between 1964 and 1966 at Warhol’s Factory. Each subject was filmed for three minutes facing the camera, mostly showing the entire face, though sometimes only partial close-ups. – Among those portrayed were Paul America, John Ashbery, Ted Berrigan, Anne Buchanan, Salvador Dalí, Donovan, Allen Ginsberg, Paul Katz, Sally Kirkland, Jonas Mekas, Nico, Lou Reed, Phoebe Russell, and others. – The panels are printed on tracing paper, each accompanied by a text sheet by Gerard Malanga. – Formerly in the Ralf-Rainer Rygulla Collection; in a private Hessian collection since 1999. – Also included: Gerard and Ralf-Rainer Rygulla.
