Subskriptionsexemplar für Mademoiselle Élise Puiforcat, eins von 140 für die Mitglieder der Société de Femmes Bibliophiles. – Im Druckvermerk vom Künstler und den Präsidentinnen der Bibliophilenvereinigung signiert. – Sehr schönes Exemplar. – Rimbaud lag – wie auch sein Zeitgenosse Isidore Ducasse (Comte de Lautréamont)– den Surrealisten als Vorreiter ihrer Ideale sehr am Herzen, so dass zahlreiche seiner Werke illustriert wurden. – Bemerkenswert ist die Drucktechnik, bei der jede Aquatinta-Platte größer als das Papierformat war, so dass nach dem Druck kein Plattenrand sichtbar ist. Die breiten weißen Ränder verhinderten unvorhergesehene Bildverluste. (siehe Saphire/Cramer, S. 130).

Subscription copy for Mademoiselle Élise Puiforcat, one of 140 issued to members of the Société de Femmes Bibliophiles. – Signed in the colophon by the artist and the presidents of the bibliophiles’ association. – A very fine copy. »Rimbaud, like his contemporary Isidore Ducasse (Comte de Lautréamont), was dear to the surrealists‘ hearts as a precursor of their ideals. … Each aquatint plate exceeded the double-page format, so no plate mark shows. The border around each illustration insured that no unforseen problems arose with loss of image, a method also used for Les Hain-Teny (No. 36), although less obviously. … The suite of chapter introductions, was pulled without typography.« (Saphire/Cramer, p. 130).
