Eins von 185 Exemplaren auf Vélin d’Arches (Gesamtauflage 220). – Insgesamt schuf Redon zu Flauberts Text 40 Lithographien, die in drei Serien 1888, 1889 und 1896 erschienen. Vollards Edition mit 22 aus der dritten Serie ist mit ihrer Auswahl, dem feinen Druck der Lithographien auf China, das auf die Velinblätter aufgewalzt wurde, und der üppigen Typographie sicher die eindrucksvollste der im Laufe von 50 Jahren entstandenen.

One of 185 copies on Vélin d’Arches paper (total edition 220). – In total, Redon created 40 lithographs for Flaubert’s text, which appeared in three series in 1888, 1889, and 1896. Vollard’s edition of 22 from the third series, with its selection, the fine printing of the lithographs on China collé onto the wove sheets, and the lavish typography, is certainly the most impressive of those produced over the course of 50 years.
Minimal foxing in places, approximately 6 text pages and 3 lithographs affected somewhat more severely at the edges and verso.
