Miró widmete das Werk dem Komponisten Georges Auric, Mitglied der »Groupe des Six«. – Dieses Rarissimum ist zugleich der Erstling der surrealistischen Dichterin Lise Hirtz (später Deharme, 1898–1980) und des jungen Joan Miró. »For the first time Miró produced illustrations concentrating on the sense of the accompanying text. This resulted in eight compositions along the lines of his paintings at the time, dominated by signs, magic and mystery, which closely matched the text. One of 20 copies of the absolute special edition on Japanese paper (total edition: 300). – The edition note is signed by the artist and Lise Hirtz. – Miró wrote the ten poems by hand; they were printed using lithography, with six featuring a corresponding stencil on the right half of the page.
