Eins von 25 Exemplaren der zweiten Vorzugsausgabe auf Van Gelder Bütten (Gesamtauflage 502, davon aber nur 100 mit den Lithographien). – Im Druckvermerk von Künstler und Verfasser signiert. – Laut justification wurde das Buch am Silvestertag 1930 gedruckt. – Als erstes von Joan Miró originalgraphisch illustriertes Buch erschien dieser Erstdruck der Gedichtsammlung des aus Rumänien stammenden Dadaisten der ersten Stunde. Tzara hatte sich im Streit von der Pariser Dada-Gruppe ab- und ab 1930 den Surrealisten zugewandt. Noch zwei weitere Bücher von Tzara wird Miró zwanzig Jahre später illustrieren: »Parler seul« (1948–1950), eines seiner schönsten Malerbücher, und (1949) den letzten Band der dreiteiligen »L’antitête«-Folge, an der sich auch Max Ernst und Yves Tanguy beteiligten. – Sehr selten, unaufgeschnitten und nahezu tadellos. – »The four stark illustrations to ›L’Arbre des voyageurs‹ are among Miró’s earliest lithographs. Both childlike and menacing, they reflect the artist’s fascination with the unconscious mind, which is characteristic of Dada. His imaginative floating forms are a complement to the verbal imagery conjured by Tzara, a leading Dada-Surrealist poet.« (R. F. Johnson, in: Logan 2001).
