Nach den ausführlichen Erläuterungen des MoMA existieren allerdings innerhalb dieser Auflage Ausstattungs- und Formatvarianten, wie vorliegend wurden wohl nur 38 Exemplare gebunden. – Erste Ausgabe des Textes, der bereits 1947 entstanden war. – Auf Handmade Twinrocker Paper. – Die getönten Radierungen wurden auf Japanese Gampi gedruckt und als »chine collé« aufgewalzt. – Handsatz des Textes aus der Futura Book, gedruckt in der Wild Carrot Letterpress. – Als Blockbuch gebunden bei Kim O’Donnell. – Die gesamte Gestaltung des Buches entwarf Benjamin Schiff unter Mitwirkung der Künstlerin. – »Benjamin Schiff, director of the Osiris imprint, played a major role in the re-emergence of printmaking in Louise Bourgeois’s practice in the late 1980s, and remained an important force in her creative use of the medium up until her last years.« (MoMA, Printers and Publishers, Osiris).

Exemplar 2 of 38. – Imprint is signed by the artist. – This imprint indicates an edition of 70 bound and five unbound copies. According to detailed notes from MoMA, however, there are variations in presentation and format within this edition; as in this case, only 38 copies were likely bound. – First edition of the text, which was originally written in 1947. – On handmade Twinrocker paper. – The tinted etchings were printed on Japanese Gampi and mounted as “chine collé.” – Benjamin Schiff, director of the Osiris imprint, designed the entire layout of the book in collaboration with the artist.
